No card. No trial clock. The free plan stays free.

Small businesses should not pay $40 a month to send an invoice

Most accounting software is priced for companies with a bookkeeper. If you are one person with an ABN, you are paying for payroll, multi-currency and approval workflows you will never open. Balaana gives away the part you actually use.

  • Free is the whole plan

Invoices, expenses, clients and GST tracking on the free plan, with no cap on how many invoices you send.

  • Built for one

No chart of accounts to design, no journal entries. You describe the work; Balaana keeps the ledger.

  • BAS-ready as you go

Every invoice and expense is tagged with its GST treatment the moment you enter it, not the week it is due.

How Balaana works

Three steps, and the BAS maths takes care of itself.

  1. 1

    Send the invoice

Pick a client, add your lines, and Balaana writes a valid tax invoice — ABN, the words "Tax invoice", GST per line, all of it.

  2. 2

    Get paid

Your client taps Pay now and settles by card, PayID or bank transfer. Balaana marks the invoice paid and files the GST.

  3. 3

    Lodge without the shoebox

At quarter end your GST collected and GST paid are already tallied against the boxes the BAS asks for.

Two plans. One of them is free.

Free covers the books. The paid plan adds getting paid.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Invoicing, expenses, clients, GST tracking and your BAS summary are on the free plan, with no cap on how many invoices you send and no trial that expires. The paid plan exists for people who want to collect payment through the invoice itself, add a second or third user, or connect a bank feed.

No. Balaana does not sell or share your financial data, and the free plan is not funded by advertising. It is funded by the people who upgrade to Plus and by the transaction fees on payments collected through Balaana, which is why payment collection sits on the paid plan rather than the free one.

No. If you are under the $75,000 turnover threshold and not registered, turn GST off and Balaana simply leaves it off your invoices. If you register later, switch it on and new invoices carry GST from that date forward.

Yes. You can export your invoices, expenses and BAS summary to CSV on any plan, so your accountant or bookkeeper can work from the same numbers. On the Plus plan you can give them a login of their own instead.

No. Balaana prepares the figures — GST collected, GST paid and total sales, laid out against the boxes the BAS asks for — but you or your tax agent lodge it with the ATO. Balaana is bookkeeping software, not a registered tax agent.

You export it and it is yours. Invoices, expenses and clients all export to CSV, and your issued invoices download as PDFs. There is no exit fee and no period where your records are held hostage on a downgrade.
