This policy covers this website. Balaana is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). We collect as little as we can get away with, and we do not sell personal information.

What we collect

What you type into a form

  • Early access form — your name, email address and, optionally, the kind of business you run.
  • Contact form — your name, email address and your message.

We do not ask for financial information, bank details or tax file numbers anywhere on this website, and you should never send them to us by email.

What we record about your visit

We use a session recording and analytics tool on every page, so we can see how people move through the site — which pages get read, what gets clicked, and where people get stuck. It records:

  • Your IP address, the network operator it belongs to, and the country it is in.
  • The pages you visit, the links and buttons you use, and how you scroll and move through a page.
  • Your browser, device type and screen size.

In Australia, as in most places, an IP address is personal information, so we treat it that way. What you type into a form field is masked before the recording leaves your browser: the recording shows that a field was filled in, not what you put in it.

Why we collect it

  • To send you an early access invite, and to tell you when Balaana is ready.
  • To answer the question you asked us.
  • To understand what people need from the product, in aggregate.

We do not send marketing about anything other than Balaana, and every email we send carries an unsubscribe link.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent your personal information.
  • We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We do not use it to build profiles for third parties.

Who else touches it

Form submissions are processed by the service providers we use to host this site and store submissions, and visit recordings are processed by AREK. They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes. Where a provider stores data outside Australia, we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable protections apply, consistent with Australian Privacy Principle 8.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no advertising cookies and runs no cross-site tracking, and we do not use your visit here to target you with advertising anywhere else. The calculators store nothing — figures you enter appear in the page URL and never leave your browser.

The session recording described above is provided by AREK (arek.com.au), which processes recordings on our behalf and on our instructions. We use them to make this website better, and for nothing else.

How long we keep it

Early access details are kept until you ask us to remove them or until we have finished onboarding, whichever comes first. Contact form messages are kept while your question is open and for a reasonable period afterwards. Session recordings are kept for a limited period and then deleted automatically.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@balaana.com and we will respond within a reasonable period, normally 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle a privacy complaint, you can escalate it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects information we already hold, tell you by email.
